Meet the Team: Jenny Bailey

14 June 2019

For the second instalment of our new Meet the Team series, we sat down with Jenny Bailey, one of Inconnection’s Senior Account Executives. We caught up on her recent trip to Disneyland, what it’s like to travel around Europe for work and how the element of surprise makes for unforgettable events…

Hi Jenny, what does a normal day look like for you as a Senior Account Executive?

Hello! My days are really varied – I work on a huge range of events for all sorts of clients, from incentive trips of all shapes and sizes to big international conferences.

A lot of my time is spent researching perfect destinations, venues and suppliers, and creating proposals for events.

As the events get closer, I’m very involved with delegate communications, including creating itineraries and running orders. I also work directly with both our clients and our suppliers, making sure the event delivers on the client’s brief and vision.

We also regularly run events that need someone onsite, so I’m lucky enough to travel a lot around the UK and Europe.

Wow, sounds busy! Can you give us a quick round up of the places you’ve visited in 2019?

So far this year I’ve visited London, Zurich, Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Disneyland Paris. Oh, and I’ve just got back from Lisbon!

What has been 2019’s most memorable destination so far?

Disneyland Paris is amazing! I hadn’t been before, so it was great to experience it with the delegates.

I love events in European cities, but Disneyland felt really different. Everything is contained in the parks, so it’s a super compact destination with loads going on all the time – it meant we could do a huge amount in the relatively short time that we had there.

What are your top tips for making an event memorable?

I work on a lot of conferences, and we know how important it is to keep those events really interesting and memorable, especially for people who attend a few in a year. So we like to include an element of surprise to make an event stand out, things like unexpected entertainment, an exciting giveaway or a unique venue.

We also know that the element of surprise strengthens memory – and it definitely makes things a lot more fun!

When you’re not jet-setting around Europe with Inconnection, what do you get up to in your spare time?

A lot of my spare time is spent with my horse, Spot, who I visit every day and ride as much as I can. Although the Inconnection team will know I’m partial to a bottomless brunch at the weekend too!

Have you always known you wanted to work in the events industry? What did you want to be growing up?

Growing up I wanted to work in a shoe shop actually, just because I’ve always had an obsession with shoes. It wasn’t until I was doing my A Levels and looking at university that I started thinking about a career in the events industry.

I was always the one organising my group of friends. I really enjoyed booking holidays, finding flights and hotels, telling everyone where we were going and when we had to be there… so I looked into doing an Events Management course, and decided on an International Events Management degree at Sheffield Hallam University.

I absolutely loved it, and now I’m lucky enough to have a career that I love too!

It's an exciting time here at Inconnection. The business and our team are growing fast, and we're always on the lookout for fresh talent to join us. Interested? Click the button below.
