Job Description

The Head of Operations will play a key senior role within the Inconnection agency reporting directly into the Client Services Director, working closely with the agency management team to manage and deliver Inconnection services and working to key objectives for the business.

The successful candidate will be an expert in operational excellence with the ability to oversee multiple projects. They must have prior experience and be skilled in managing multiple projects with a proven track record of managing a team.  The Head of Operations will play a key role in new business pitch work, attending where appropriate.

The Role

  • Resource planning and project allocation within operations team
  • Manage and develop a high performing operations team who will lead, manage and deliver the events from conception to delivery.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and creativity is of a high standard within the business.
  • Ensure that all team members are working productively and with maximum efficiency following all processes and with the correct usage of the CRM system
  • Acting as the main point of contact for all key contacts, known for exceptional service and delivery
  • Leading key operational client meetings and site visits
  • Ensure operational team deliver against client briefs overseeing the operational team reports managing all projects.
  • Responsible for operations team budgets, and cost tracking with weekly business reporting on margin.
  • Playing a key role in the weekly operations planning / reporting meetings providing updates on projects within the team
  • Identifying new services to increase revenue through commissions, upselling, always looking at ways to increase margin
  • Producing top class proposals in response to client briefs
  • Attending new business pitches, presentations and creative proposals
  • Developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers negotiating effectively
  • Provide training and development for line reports including objective setting and reviews
  • Communicate upwardly ensuring CSD is informed of all key information regarding operations, clients and projects
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of all processes
  • Staying abreast at all times with developments within our client’s sectors and the event industry
  • Ability to mentor and develop other team members ensuring efficiency within the team.
  • Deal with HR issues within the team with the support of HR Manager
  • Organise and lead debriefs post event to measure and set future expectations
  • Clear reporting on the status of delivery of the events through strong communication
  • Setting clear structures with the operations team to set in place regular catch ups and performance reviews
  • Management of the event schedule to ensure team members have support and leadership in order to deliver successful events
  • To encourage a collaborative and positive working environment with your team to ensure team satisfaction
  • Refining continual improvement of Inconnection operational processes

Additional Qualities

  • 10+ years agency experience within an agency environment
  • Proven track record of leading large scale and multiple projects
  • Commercial and business acumen and confident networker
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with a record of setting accurate annual budgets and reporting monthly forecasting
  • Proficient user of IT including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of using a CRM management system
  • Experience of managing people and developing a team
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with an upbeat attitude
  • Able to bring new ideas with confidence and deliver them through
  • Ability and willingness to travel around the UK and overseas
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Proven track record in commercial B2B conference/events management
  • Ready to hit the ground running to proactively manage all aspects of the event.
