Incentive Travel Increases Loyalty
Studies have shown that incentive travel programmes can increase loyalty to your company and help those participating feel more appreciated within your organisation. The latest data from ‘Incentive Travel: The Participant’s Viewpoint’, a study conducted by the Site International Foundation and the Incentive Travel Council of the Incentive Marketing Association supports this viewpoint that incentive travel can increase loyalty.
According to the report nearly 9 in 10 incentive travel participants felt earning an incentive travel reward made them feel appreciated, while 73% reported that fell more loyal to the company sponsoring the award. This data was released in part three of the incentive travel study which focused on the emotional responses of the participants and memories relating to various aspects of the incentive travel experience.
Less than half of the respondents reported that the least-intense memories were around corporate social responsibility activities with an average or above-average intensity. However when asked whether corporate social responsibility should be incorporated into the incentive travel event, 46% said yes whilst 22% said no.

Incentive travel destination has positive impact
The destination for the incentive travel event had the highest impact with 73% of respondents reporting the impact was positive or very positive. Camaraderie with other incentive participants was the second highest element with 64% of respondents saying it had a positive or very positive impact. The ability to connect with senior management was also high on the list with 53% reporting that it had a positive or very positive emotional impact. 46% reported that team building had a positive impact with 36% saying the memory of a corporate social responsibility component had a positive impact.
The incentive travel survey was designed with assistance from practising incentive managers and other incentive industry professionals, and then assembled by the marketing research firm Research Now.
