Corporate Hospitality Gives Good Face Time
‘Face time’ is an often-used buzz phrase when it comes to corporate hospitality. There’s a myriad of activities to choose from, but which will afford the host the maximum amount of quality time with the guest?
Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine conducted a survey back in 2010 which showed golf to be the most popular choice, closely followed by football and rugby – all great opportunities for male bonding and back slapping (they didn’t have ‘lap dancing’ as an option on the survey, in case you were wondering).
The big ticket in 2012
Undoubtedly the big ticket this year is the London 2012 Olympic Games, but with hospitality packages for the main events costing in the region of £4,500 to £7,500 you’d want to be guaranteed a whole lot of face time to justify the cost.
Inconnection’s Nick Hamilton commented: “It can be difficult to justify spending £4,500 per person for four hours to watch one blink-and-you’ll-miss-it race and have some lunch. For that type of budget we can take you to the Ryder Cup in the US for four days or take in a number of events in the UK tripling the amount of face time opportunities.”
Corporates are looking for better value away from the Olympics. Events such as Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and England’s summer cricket have seen an increase in bookings on last year, discounting the theory that the Olympics could have an adverse effect on the traditional standout dates in the UK’s hospitality season.
There can be no doubt that it would be difficult to turn down an invitation to the Opening Ceremony, but for that sort of money you can find much better value at other events.
However you can still entertain around London 2012 if you have a smaller budget. We would recommend a London 2012 Screening event which still allows you and your guests to experience the magic of the Greatest Show on Earth but at a fraction of the cost. A London 2012 Screening event affords you the opportunity to invite a large number of your key clients adding extra value to what is a low cost event.
What we recommend
Inconnection have vast experience with corporate hospitality events not just in the UK but across the world. Here are our 5 event ideas outside of the Olympics to consider attending this year:
- QBE Rugby Autumn Internationals at Twickenham
- Royal Ascot
- The Open Championship
- Sporting dinner or sporting lunch
When choosing hospitality, if your goal is to secure that all important face time the key is not just splashing out but ensuring that you make the most of the face time when you’ve got it.
Inconnection recommends understanding your guests and researching what makes them tick so you can make sure they leave with a smile on their face and provide you with a real return on investment.
